AM I REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A VISA?Yes. Visa requirements are an important step on our journey, and we want to make sure you're fully prepared. Each participant is responsible for handling their visa requirements, so be sure to have a valid passport ready to obtain your Tourist Visa. Visa processing takes time, so we recommend submitting your application at least 30 days before your departure date. Remember, applications must be submitted in writing – no online applications here! Embrace Kongo leadership team is here to help guide you through this process. We've scheduled a special virtual info session just for you! It's invite-only for participants who have paid their monthly installment, confirming their participation in this year's Embrace Kongo. Ready to get started? SHOULD I BRING CASH? OR IS CREDT/DEBIT CARD BETTER?When it comes to payments during your adventure with us, cash is king. While some places might accept debit cards as a backup or for cash withdrawals, it's always safer to have cash on hand. To make things smoother, we recommend ordering some local currency from your bank before your trip. Just a heads-up – they usually prefer crisp $100 bills. If you're unable to order local currency, don't worry! You can always bring crisp $100 bills for exchange once you're on the ground. Let's plan ahead. If you have any additional questions regarding currency exchange, please reach out to our management team via email at embracekongo@gmail.com. We are here to help!
-
HOW CAN I EXCHANGE CURRENCY ONCE I ARRIVE IN BRAZZAVILLE?We recommend skipping the airport exchange kiosk and opt for other exchange locations in town, such as Western Union. You'll get a much better rate there, giving you more bang for your buck!
-
WHAT IS NOT COVERED IN EMBRACE KONGO TUITION?While Embrace Kongo takes care of your immersive experience essentials like activities, transportation, accommodation, and meals, there are a few things it doesn't cover. You'll need to arrange your own airfare, take care of any visa and vaccination requirements, and if you're eyeing some cool souvenirs or artifacts, those aren't included either. Not to worry though! We suggest setting aside a budget for these extras.
-
WHAT IS THE CONVERSION RATE FROM USD TO LOCAL CURRENCY.The local currency is Central African CFA franc or CFA. Currently, the rate stands at $1 USD = 608.75 XFA (Central African CFA Franc). Keep in mind, exchange rates can vary, so it's always good to stay informed.

CAN I FLY INTO KINSHASA AND MEET THE GROUP IN BRAZZAVILLE?This is not advisable. While flying into Kinshasa might seem tempting with slightly lower ticket prices, we highly recommend choosing Maya-Maya Airport in Brazzaville for ease and safety. Traveling to Kinshasa comes with extra costs like visa fees for the Democratic Republic of Congo and the ferry fare from Kinshasa to Brazzaville. Also, it's important to note that Embrace Kongo does not have staff on the ground in Kinshasa to receive its participants and cannot ensure safety and ease of that route.
